Default 08 engine mount

I was looking at the 08's yesterday. One of the first things I noticed was the additional motor mount on the front head to the frame. I asked the salesman and he told me that was added to get rid of the vibration at idle. Does this hold water, or he is blowing smoke up my A@#??

I should mention that the additional motor mount was on the baggers only....

I understand it to be replacing the motor mount thant was under the old gas tank. The 08 dressers have larger tanks and old motor mount wont fit.

Max1 is correct. With the larger gas tank there is no room for the mount that was on the top of the engine so they redesigned it to the front of the engine. Salesman does not know his product or his customers!

In the latest "Baggers" magazine, there was mention of the new re-designed mount being an up-grade for more stability.

Article probably written by a part-time salesman.

i thought i was told it was for stability to help with some of the wobbles at turns and higher speeds, the company that makes that mount for under the tranny told me that at sturgis said it helps abit but their mechanism is the real fix

Negative. It's solely the adjustable link for maintaining vertical alignment of the drivetrain within the frame. It was previously up under the tank, attached at one end to the frame backbone and at the other to a bracket fastened to both cylinder heads. At the highest, best-leverage point. To adjust it required at least partial removal of the tank. Getting the extra gallon into as small a tank as possible required relocation to a less desireable place (in my opinion).
