Default Wash my Glide (NOT pimp my ride)

Hi

Washed my new Street Glide today for the first time, after getting caught in a rain storm the bike was filthy!

I removed the hard saddlebags and took my time to get everything looking great....

My question: how best to go through the motions as taking the bags off meant that I had to wash them seperately and out of sync with the rest of the bike...

What order do you go through the wash and polish routine, how often do you take the bags off to wash beneath and how to handle them without risk of damage?

Any advice on the process would help.

Thanks

I take my bags off EVERY time I wash my bike and I also wash them last waxing the backsides of them before placing them back on the bike. It takes me a LOOOOOOONG time to wash and detail my bike as I even wash the underside with a rag/brush.

It'll look clean during the next rainstorm.

Detailed washing and polishing is best accomplished during snow storms.

I remove the bags every time I wash the bike(05 eglide Classic)-Only takes a few minutes at most for removal- I am currently using a Mr. Clean Car wash setup-works really well-Also dry with my leaf blower-hardly any water spots because the Mr. Clean system has a replaeable water filter-YMMV

I take the bags off every other wash, which is every two weeks. Do the WW tires and polish the profile rims every other wash. Use maguires soap, good scrub after rinsing thoroughly, then use a seperate lambs woll glove to go over everything with the Mr Clean system, Leaf blower to dry off, almost no spots. once completely dry I polish and wax inside the garage..

Default Wash

I use a mister with, 1st with a degreaser, than soap and water, rinse with water, blow dry, 1/2 & 1/2 with mineral spirits & water, blow-dry, wax. Mineral spirits protect against all rust especially in hard to reach areas. I always blow dry than mist with mineral spirits when caught in the rain. I have a 80 gal, 7 HP compressor at home.
