xm radio
I have a 2008 Ultdra Classic on order. I want the XM radio upgrade. The dealer says they actually take out the factory radio and replace it with a different radio. Is that the case?? If so i want to tell the dealer I want the original factory radio. I can install it in my old truck.

www.biketronics.com sells kits for sony radios that work with the hand controls with xm. That's what I have on my standard. I think you need the stock radio for the CB and intercom as that runs through the radio.? Not sure if they will be installing an after market. Have you looked at receivers to mount on the handlebar?

Just installed the XM modulator on my '08. It's an add-on to the stock radio. You wll also need a harness. It's an easy install. You might want to put the antenna outside of the fairing. Otherwise, I had a very poor signal.
Here's where I put it.

Most excellent. It looks like it was made for that location.

XM has "repeaters" in many populated areas so what works in your driveway may not work for you out in the sticks. For instance, I get better reception inside a concrete parking garage in downtown St Louis than I do on the backroads 30 miles from town. Something to consider if you do much traveling.
