Default Engine light went on and then off...? UPDATED

So I was riding in this morning in stop and go traffic. This lasted about 15 minutes. At that time the light engine came on. We were going about 15-20 and I was in 1st gear. At that time the traffic sped up. just before the traffic sped up my engine light came on and then went off just that quick. Does it do this when it gets hot? SHould I take it in or see if it comes on again. I heard no funny engine noises. IT WAS A LOOSE SPARK PLUG FOR THE REAR CYLINDER.

THanks

You should take it in to have it looked at. The check engine light should never come on unless there is an error and a code is logged. Let alone come on and off at different speed.

What Kahuna said - Best to have a dealer check the code. I've had that happen a couple times - once - it was the speed sensor (see if it affects your turn signals as well) and another time is was a ground issue - had the dealer clear the code and never had it happen again - yet.

mine was going on and off when i first got my bike. I took it back to the dealer 2 times before they couldfigure out the problem. Some type of harness issue under the seat. Not sure if that was true, but that's what they told me. Has not gone on since.

So I went there today. There were two codes. One was P0152 which is the rear O2 sensor error and the other was P1356 which is a combustion chamber lean (I think). It was surging when I was riding to the dealer and I did not have the cruise on. I thought maybe it was from the wind due to all the tractor trailers and the fact I was doing about 80 mph but I don't know. Anyway it is there now to get checked.
