RE: Installing luggage rack
I just bought the Premium Luggage Rack but have not installed it yet. From what I remember reading from other Post---Use Masking Tape where you drill the holes, this helpskeep the paint from splintering or cracking, Measure it over & over, use a verysmall drill bit for the pilot holes then work up from there. Use some caulk on the bolts.
Hurry and do yours and let me know how it worked out before I do mine

1 (middle) finger distance between the back rest and the tour pak rail is a good distance. use the template.
use masking tape on the top surface..
line it up a few times..
use a pencil to mark the holes.
center it a few times.
put a towel in ur tour pack the
drill holes.
remove towel and lotsa dust.
use silicone
not a hard joib at all.

RE: Installing luggage rack
Piece of cake. First thing throw away the template. use just a tad of silicone to hold the grommets to the legs of the rack. Put double stick tape to the bottom of the grommets. Slowly lower the rack into position when you think you are where you want to be push down on the rack a little, if you like your position, lift the rack off and the grommets will be stuck. Drill a small pilot hole and pop off you grommets to remove tape and finish drilling the holes.
Its better to see the rack in position than to look at a template.

Not hard, just don't recommend that you use the frigging template. Four pieces of 2" masking tape, eyeball it for center and back so passenger doesn't lean against it. Mark it, drill foursmall pilot holes. Double check it lines up center on lid, (don't ask the old lady because she blind). Drill the regular size holes and apply silcone to the bolt and a little bit under the rubber base. Course I used the template, had the old lady double check, and now it's off center almost a 1/4.

RE: Installing luggage rack
Good advice from everyone. It was easy, after much deliberation, and reading up on it. I'll add that I firmly believe in drilling pilot holes. I got a bit cocky on my last one and the bit walked some. Not enough to cause any problems, but it had me saying "I shoulda drilled a pilot hole" while it was walking. Not cracks or damage to the paint.
