Default RE: Seat questions????? Sundowner???

interesting- i just installed my Sundowner on my RKC last night and took it to work. i only put about 50 miles on it so far, but ill say that from what i can feel- the Sundowner moved be back a little bit and down a VERY little bit. its not as 'bucketed' as i had anticipated- but it is much more comfortable than the stock seat.

i rode my bro-in-law's EGC last week and he has what he said is a Sundowner on it. his seat felt forward/down.... which i thought was the 'reach' seat. he swears its a Sundowner though.

either way- both the reach and sd are vast improvements over the stock seat.

I have the Streetglide model. Moved me foward about an inch, down a couple inch's. A very "in the bike" feeling. Firm but not hard. I like mine.
Aki ...
Isn't THAT what the Reach seat is suppose to do ?
If that is the case WHAT is the difference between the 2 ?
Just wondering cus I bought one (Sundowner) from a member here (haven't
got it yet) and my Wife has a Reach seat on her S.G. already and I find it
puts me too far forward for my liking.
Rob ......
I don't see a Reach seat for the Street glides, the picture of the reach seat for the Kings look alot like Sundowner I have. Not sure.[&:]

Well I will let you all know the difference between them both as soon as mine gets shipped
and I get it (about a week I'm guessing). I bought the Wife's and the HD # was 52609-05
and it looks EXACTLY as what is in the book and it did move her closer & lower as stated.
The one I just bought (according to seller) is HD #51630-06

The 52609-05 IS the Reach seat. I know because I ordered one this morning for my SG. I have a 29-30" inseam and the wideness of the stock seat in front soaked up too much of it causing me not to be able to "flat foot" during stops. I'm acustomed to setting "IN" the bike, not "ON" the bike, so I hope this seat does it for me.

I also have one coming that I bought from a member. It is the RKC version and I'm certainly hoping it moves me back an inch versus forward an inch. I will post my thoughts when it shows.

I was on a ride out west from VA last year and about Arkansas my *** caved in!!!! So I called ahead to Oklahoma City HD and bought a Sundowner over the phone and stopped in there the next day and put it on and they shipped my stock one home and I haven't taken the Sundowner off except to wash the bike since. It has my vote!!!!

Did it sit you forward or back,up or down from stock? Which rider backrest is that, looks good. OHHH yea and those chrome wheels are slick!!

To me it seemed like the Sundowner raised me and pushed me forward, but after really riding it for about 2000 miles I couldn't be happier. I really think I'm in the same position as the stock seat but I feel like the Sundowner molded to my butt. Anyone that has or is going to buy a new seat like the Sundowner will not be totally happy until they put some miles on it to break it in. I think the Sundowner is one of the best investments I ever made for my bike.

I agree with Rico450r. I also have a Road King Custom and the Sundowner seemed to move me up/forward slightly. I didn't really care for it at first, but after taking a trip this past weekend, I wish I'd have left it on. My butt goes numb after an hour or so with the stock seat, but i prefer the look of the stock seat-- but it doesn't really matter when you're riding does it?I usually only put it on when the ol' lady is riding (along with sissy bar and windshield) and take it off when riding solo. After getting home and taking her for a ride -- What a difference! I think I'll leave it on from now on. I think the Sundowner probably corrects your posture a bit, helping your back as well ( I tend to sit back/slouch with the stocker whereas the Sundowner requires a more upright position ) I'm 6'2" , 220# and have no problem reaching the ground, although as someone else said, there is a little more seat under your thighs/wider making it a little less comfortable a stoplights, but helps when riding(that's what it's for right?) Overall I would definately recommend it. Hope this helps you out.

Have a SUNDOWNER on both my '01 RKS & '07 RG... They both moved me back and down a bit... GREAT SEAT can ride for 100's of miles per day & get up and do it again day after day... Best seat HD MAKES!!!
