Just got the news (from my local paper) that, due to a glut of inventory (my words), HD will shut down all production for 1 week during November. Employees will not receive their paychecks, but, will continue to receive their medical insurance during that week. Most of us have predicted that HD was flooding the market and now their employees will suffer the consequences (along with lower resale/trade-in values).

 

I thought they shut down for a week every year.A lot ofmanufacturing plants do that.

 

Thats usually around the Fourth of July, not November.

 

Geez....right at the Holidays???Something ain't right with that....

It seems like Harley is having trouble filling their inventory requirements to their dealers...at least around here anyway....is now a good time for a shut-down?

 

I heard they are shutting down to re-tool for the liquid cooled models.[sm=joke.gif]

 

Same here (Eugene OR)... We wanted to see a Rocker ... Local dealer said to come back in November.

 

I talked to the dealer in Topeka who said Nov. or Dec. on the Rocker AND the Fat Bob.... kinda stinks with all the hype surrounding those two new models...

 

I have it straight from Willie G that they are gonna put 2 cycle motors on all future HDs...and you have to do your own mixing....:&gt

 

They do not shut down around the 4th of July. They shut down every year between Christmas and New Years and for this the employees are paid.
