Default Harley Battery Tender

Just bought a new battery tender from Harley. Hooked it up and it's blinking red, no change when I connect it to the bike. I'm not having any problems with the battery. Is a blinking red light normal on a tender...will it every go green?

Thanks,
Scott

It will turn green once the battery is fully charged and the battery tender goes into "float" mode. That's when it just maintains the charge by cycling on and off automatically.

So the blinking red is normal....does that mean it's charging?

Did the charger come with any instructions? Got to have more than just how to hook it up.

The blinking red on the instructions indicates not charging....but it does that even before I hook it up to the battery

check the instructions. Sometimes a blinking ligh indicates it is close to fully charged and about to go into float mode.

The instructions really don't say anything about a blinking red light.....even before I plugged it into the bike it was blinking red. Once plugged into the bike, still blinking....

Not sure about Harley branded 'tenders, but if it has a connector in the cable to change ends with take a close look at that. Original "Battery Tender" & "Battery Tender Jr." have a tendency to loose connectivity at that point. All you have to do is expand the plugs so they make contact. Without contact the tender never sees the battery, so it never changes state............
