If you check my bio you will see I own a car wash/ detail shop outside Chicago, hence the name Hogwash...IMO, first determine that the bugs acidhave not etched into the paint, if so,it must be buffed out. Simple greenwill in timedegrade the clear coat. Use a Microfiber towelsoaked in HOT water.Place it on the fairing until the steam disapates. Gently wipe, don't scrub in one spot. If you use clay or a body sponge you'll have a much higher chance of scratching the paint. Good luck.
The HD bug remover works well for the Florida critters. Ditto on the Simple Green, don't trust it on the bike finish and agree that trying a wet cloth laid on the fairing letting it soak for a while, softens em up so they are not so chewy....
Removing bugs is like catchinga cold, prevention is the best medicine. I regularly apply Pig Snot waxto my fairing when I'm cleaning it up. It's easy to use, leaves a nice finish, and bugs just wipe off with a dry cloth with no effort at all.
Hey Bobros
Its really important to get into the habit of cleaning off the bugs when you finish your ride ( don't wait till the next time you ride ) it will make life a lot easier for you and your scoot.
