RE: Lock your saddlebags!!!!!
Yeah if they want them bad enough they will get them no matter what you do. But most theives are looking for a quick opportunity. They are not usually gonna take the time to really work for something like that. Unless the the bike s somewhere way out of site giving them time to work. That is why I always take my quick release sissy bar off the bike when staying at hotels or anywhere the bike will be out of my site for long periods of time.

You can buy a lock for the sissy bar at the dealership. They come in either a single lock package for about $30,( as I recall ) or a 2 lock package. I got the single lock, didn't see why I would need to lock both sides of the detachable sissy bar.

RE: Lock your saddlebags!!!!!
guys i really appreciate the sympathy, sh*t happens. I'm not losing sleep over it now since i can't do anything about it.
BUT, you guys have given me great ideas on how to avoid this from happening again, or at least slowing them down a bit to go somewhere else.
AND, i hope you guys learned from my "mistake" and take the proper precautions.
Ride safe!
PS, total bill so far is $1340 for bags and new keyed-alike locks, and about $271 for my new latch lights, tools and stuff i lost. For about $10 i could have avoided this whole mess!!! D'oh

RE: Lock your saddlebags!!!!!
After reading this post, I was concerned about leaving my bike alone and finding my bags missing.I found thissaddlebag lock kit and installed it.You can find it on eBay. Now I feel a lot better about leaving my bike alone while out. It was easy to install and I really liked the way the mounting bracket bolt is hidden.A thief can't get to the bolt now. The fasteners take less than a minute to remove by hand without tools, almost as quick as the original quick release ones that came with the bike. Hope this may help others with the same concerns.........

RE: Lock your saddlebags!!!!!
Here is what I did:
1. Removed the quick release pins. Inserted a SS bolt with a tab welded to the inside and then bolt the bags on.
For the Hanger hardware I removed the standard bolt and replaced it with a Spanner type bolt. You can only remove it when the bags are removed and then you have to have the proper tool.
I know this will only slow someone down but I felt I had to do something.
Sorry about your bags, that sucks!
