Biketronics
Hello All,
Question, I'm considering getting the Sony 5710, Biketronics kit, and Hogtunes speakers. What price am I looking at for the complete set up $500.00 + ? The Sony 5710 has 4 oututs for front and rear speakers, what do you do with the rear speaker leads if you're only going to use the speakers in the fairing ? Would it damage the radio using only the front speaker outlets ? Has anyone let Best Buy, or Circuit city, or an independant shop do the install ?
Thanks Again,

RE: Biketronics
$500 sounds right before installation.$200 for Biketron, $200 for Sony $100 for speakers. Install will probably take an hour to an hour and a half. Id get a manual and install it yourself if you can. I will work fine with two speakers and probably even has a setting to choose between 2 or 4 speaker. There are alot of threads about this kit already . Do a search and you will find lots of good info.

RE: Biketronics
I just did this set-up. The only thing I have to wait for is the Biketronics kit for a 06. Apparently there is something different in the wiring for the 06 but they assured me the kit will be out by the end of December.
I paid $107.45 for the HogTune front speakers shipped, $139.00 for the Sony 5710 at Best Buy, and will pay $199 for the Biketronics kit. Best Buy had the head unit on sale for $169 plus a $30 mail in rebate. I also purchased the XM satellite radio parts which totaled $80 on sale at Best Buy, plus they had a $50 rebate on top of that. So the XM cost me only $30 for the two pieces. Now the only thing I don't have yet, plus you guys have not mentioned is the antenna. I'm not sure what I'm doing there. The H-D unit is $100 which is nuts. Since I have to wait for the Biketronics unit I have plenty of time to find a solution.

Possible antenna solutions:
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd241.htm
http://www.firestik.com/index.htm
The Firestik is a CB antenna that can be dual wired for the radio...but for you guys not running CBs, consider the Dakota Digital, no external antenna visible. This is one Mac (pilot1996) and Bill Nourse both use. Check out this thread a few different antenna options discussed:

Not quite a hijack, is it? New radio needs a new antenna, no?
Enjoy the ride.
