Default RK Soft vs Hard Bags

I'm almost there! Been renting a few and have decided on the RK ... and because I can't make this easy ... I'm struggling with the RK Std or the RK Classic ... the only difference to me is the Hard Bags on the Std vs the Leather (but lined) Bags on the Classic ... the Hard are lockable, but the leather (lined) look cool ...

Any opinions on the Hard vs Soft(er) bags?

Thank you for any thoughts ....

P.S. This will be my 1st bike in 30 years (formerly had a Honda 450 .... hmmm)

I have both the RK Classic with the leather hard bags and the Ultra with the hard painted bags. I prefer the look of the painted bags better. The RKC will give you the cruise control as standard equipment - nice feature for touring.

I've got the Classic with the leather hard bags...I think they look cool, but I'm now looking to buy a pair of hard painted bags because I'm a chrome freak and you can dress them up more. I'll keep the originals so I have a choice. I'd go with the RK Standard every time...wish I'd bought one instead of the Classic.

Back in March I purchased the RKC and don't regret it at all. One of the selling points for me was the look of the leather covered saddle bags. With regards to being able to chrome them up check out the Nostalgic Road King® Classic Saddlebag Guard Rails at harley's website.

My choice was the RK Standard. I prefer the looks of the hard bags as well as their utility.

Maintenance. It’s easier to care for. Besides, women say that they like it hard. I like women. Therefore, I like it hard too. Who wants a saggy, drooping, limp whatever?

Real leather or painted fiberglass? Do you even have to ask? Go Classic!!

(Actually, they are both great - you'll love either one)
