RE: Dilemma, keep the HD or the Kawasaki
After spending years slipping my clutches and revevving the engine to pull our bunkhouse camper around campgrounds, I had made the observation that there were two bikes that could putt-putt through campgrounds, up and down hills, without any problems, pulling campers and trailers, and I knew my next bike was going to be one or the other...
You've got one of each. Plus's for the Kawa, in my opinion, was a much lower initial price, shaft drive, previous problems on old models addressed by Kawasaki. Negs were no radio, no cruise, no top case, water cooled (yes, I see that as a negative, as it's one more thing you have to take care of), less wind protection .
Plus's for the Harley were radio/cb/cruise, better fairing/protection, better luggage, better seating for passenger, more options for accessories, previous model problems addressed by Harley (I've got an '06).
Negatives were muchhigher initial cost.
Lean engines affect them both, more so on the air cooled Harley. Easily fixed by aftermarket. If the only other complaint is addressed by the IDS, I sure would install that and don't look back.

I'd keep the Harley. But I see where Ultrasweet is coming from. So many negative posts. Gotten in his head. But, that's what the internet will do. Seems forums of all types have their grumblers and complainers, and its not an accurate reflection. I read negative comments on forums, but when out riding in groups, I NEVER hear bitter complaining from riders.
My advice to Ultrasweet is to ignore all the negative banter and keep the bike that he really likes the most. The Nomad is very nice, but it is not in the same league as the Ultra.
