RE: RAIN-X ON MY WINDSHIELD - DID I DESTROY IT?
RainX says right on the bottle NOT to put it on plastic windshields. It will have a chemical reaction with the plastic and start to eat it and it will eventually turn white. Next shield use a wax like "Liquid Glass", no polish wax as that will scratch the glass.

http://www.noscratch.com/novus/try cleaning with this. it will remove the film. it may not of done the damage until it sets in. I use it on my wifes tanning bed. the Acrylic on it is about 15 years old and this stuff works good. merely washing the screen with soap will not remove all of the rain x.

Just got off the phone with Rain-x. Tex was right. Started to destroy windshield the minute I put it on. The tech said to use Flitz chrome & plastic cleaner or McQuires Plas-x (sold at walmart). He also said there is a product called Plex-i-coat by (Arrow shell.com) that the pilots use on their planes. He said that he has heard some people have brought the windshields back. Said I have a 50/50 chance. Hope this helps someone else from making the same STUPID mistake I made.

It's not all that bad, www.clearviewshields.com They have better than the stock glass with more choices at a reasonable price. Glass is thicker for less flex and vibration, you can get it the same height or lower or higher, with a vent to reduce the low pressure buffeting.
