RE: installed rider back rest BUT.........
Well so far i've installed a 3/4" thick spacer at the front mount.
Next i'm going to heat it and bend it back a little while also cutting some foam out
If that still isnt enough i'll heat and bend the seat posts w/ the springs
then I will have to move the ladies tourpak back 2.5 inches
and if it still doesnt work -- new bars
Hell who wouldve thought this 200 back rest would end up costing me 8 hours of labor, a 200 set of bars, a 130 dollar tourpak relocation kit, then new of course i would need levers/cables........................................ and $1000 later, my backrest works

You have to re-bend the bracket on the backrest, open up the angle so the backrest is straight up with the bike. I have an old big vice that belonged to my grandfather without it I would have hada really tough time, but a few twist of the handlean it was perfect. Most try to heat it to bend it, it does not matter how it gets bent but it need to be bent just a little, a little goes a long way on this item. This is better than trying to shim the other part on the fender. Good luck.

Then packed up for a ride to the gap strapped on the T bagg and forgot the back rest (Bagg was between me and the passenger rest very compfy for the ride down). Rode the whole trip with out it and realy wished I did not forget!!

I had to put some serious heat on mine to get those rods to bend...those things are tough! Some of you guys bending them without heat must be freakin Hercules! You can see in my sig pic the angle I ended up with. Just right for me.
