RE: premium tour pak rack install--- help please
It comes with a template. Mark it out well. I taped the template to the Tour-Pak, and drilled 1/16 pilot holes, then drilled to bolt size. Also I lifted the template enough to put masking tape exactly where I was drilling to prevent any splintering. I put some marine sealant on the threads, but most of the people I know did nothing and have no leakage problems.

i didn't use the template. I used the actual rack. placed masking tape on the tour pac, then placed the rack on topf of the tape, with the rack exactly where I wanted it. drew around the racks legs onto the tape, marking exactly where the legs sat on the tour pac. then drilled in the center of the marked legs areas on the tape, then enlarged them with the correct sized bit. Fit like a glove when done.

yeah, what they said. !!!
Always put some masking tape down, before drilling. That will keep your bit from wandering.
I didn't use any sealant--the rubber washers including seemed to seal just fine. Otherwise just use a little GE silicone sealant.

first throw away the template it's about as useless as tit on a boar hog.
take the rack and gently set on tour pack.
Line it up so it looks evenlt spaced and square.
take some 2 inch masking tape. Lift one leg at a time and stick tape to tour pack under the leg.
Recheck square and spacing. Use ball point pen draw circle around legs.
Remove rack, either measure center of circle or eyeball it if you feel sure enough.
Use bit two or three sizes smaller than bolt. (I used 1/8 " myself)
Gently drill all four holes. Then drill 1/16" larger than bolt size.
remove tape gently.
Apply small dab clear silicone to drilled holes(on top of pack).
Apply small dab silicone to rack legs, this will hold black trim caps in place and seal out water.
Apply small dab silicone on under side.
Insert bolts and tighten to recommended spec.
Mines never leaked and paint did not chip. Done 10 of them this way.
