Default Locking Detachable Latch Kit (Street Glide)...

When facing the rear of the bike, which side does the latch get installed on? I have the 2-Up system.

Thanks,

Frank

Looking from the rear, facing the license plate mine in on the left. The dealer may have mounted it wrong as the "key" had to be heated and bent 90 degrees to clear the bottom of the tourpack.

For my EG Classic it seemed like the instructions indicated that it went on the right side - but when I put it there it was so tight that it wouldn't turn and was useless. So I put it on the left side and it works fine. Also had to bend and cut the key to use it, and have heard that most guys do.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me today. Mine is mounted on the left. The directions say nothing about part numbers: 53276-04 (Detachable Tour-Pak Mount) and 53804-06 (Docking Hardware).

P.S. I also used the washer that was in the kit. :-)

I just cut the end of my key off and threw it in the pack. Be careful if trying to bend it as the small "barrel" that engages the lock can come loose....
