Default Oil Change.....WTF!

Did my first oil change.....in the goo-rodge.......getting the oil plug was easy enough.....

....but who was the mastermind...errrrr moron who located the oil filter in that place?

I even bought that oil drain contraption..... the one that redirects the oil to where you want it to go......to no avail! That's a piece of crap! Couldn't get the junk piece under the filter to catch the oil!

I just let it drip all the way down into my drain pan. Wiped it up the best I could....started her up and found no drippies!

Not sure I'm down with the engineer on this one! He must own a metric!

Not much room to get much of anything in there to catch the oil...I've heard some of the other ideas..but it doesn't seem feasible.

Just wondering what others do.....?

Thanks. [:@][:'(]

Yup, I use a 2-liter bottle cut in half and watch the oil run all over my chrome voltage regulator as I try to catch it.[:@][:@][:@]

I use the 2 litre bottle method, works great. No need to remove the jugs though

I just let mine run down and then clean up with greased lightning or 409. Shoot, it just might lube some of the lower areas too. Better than rust.

Change oil when it's time..but NEVER,NEVER,NEVER...change the filter...[8D]..seriously, I feel your pain cause you're right about that design(SUCKS!!).

I just fold newspaper lengthwise and slip it up under the filter after I loosen it a bit. I let it hang out over the shifter and the oil runs out and into the oil pan. Then just pitch the "funnel". It works very well!

The best I've done so far is using a ziplock bag. Loosen the filter until just before you think it will drip then put the bag over it and continue to unscrew.
Helped a buddy using this method and hardly spilled anything. Did it by myself
and spilled but not real bad.
I'd say, just get used to a little clean up. Once or twice a year the bottom of the
bike needs a clean up anyway.
