As stated, pesonal preference. I like taking off my windshield on hot days as well and can't help but think that it offers almost as much protection as a batwing, without the buffetting issues I have heard of being inheret in the batwing.

I changed the seat before delivery of the bike. I don't need a radio as I like to hear the bike and the traffic around me . . . if I wanted to hear music I'd rive my car . . .

All that, plus my wife doesn't like the look of the batwing . . .

I purchased a 03 Road King that had the removable Quadzilla fairing. Takes about 3 minutes to take it off/on. I think I get the best of both worlds.

This is some really great information, guys. Thank you.
Of course, the positive attributes of BOTH bikes makes it hard to decide.
I really love the electra glide. Might be the best bike for the longer trips, and keep the Valkyrie for around town.

Buddha, I hear you about the T-bag. I have a great time with that thing packed up on the back. Looks cool.

One other point that might make a differenceisthere are a lot more colors to choose from with the RK over the glide.

They are more-or-less the same bike. Do you need a radio or not? Do you need hand-covers or will you wear gauntlet gloves? If you choose the wrong bike, you can still modify it over to the other model if you want to. You have nothing to lose but another model year - and they're all GREAT model years, by the way.

Doc - you can't really go wrong either way. Buy one (a test ride first is great if offered) and ride it. A lot!!!

Between those two I'd pick the Road King. I thinkthe RKlooks better and to me it wouldn't be worth having a full fairing without a radio as with the EGS.

What I'd recommend iskeeping that Sportster for the "minimalist" rides and getting a touring bike with a radio. Sure is nice having some tunes on a long ride.

I looked at both and didn't like the 3 colors in the EG. I went with an 08 RK. Also I didn't care about a radio and gauges. I like seeing my front wheel and just the added visability. I agree the RK is overpriced but demand dictates price.
Enjoy the ride...I am
