HOG membership, worth it?

HOG membership, worth it?
Just got my renewal invoice for another year and I'm debating whether or not to renew. I primarily only want roadside assistance and don't really care for all the other 'fluff'. Any other good motorcycle-based roadside assistance plans out there that are equal or better? I know AAA will tow my motorcycle in the event of a breakdown but I don't think I want to get my bike towed by someone who has no experience towing a bike.

I've gotten the "free" 1 year membership twice with new purchases and never renewed...didn't see the use, but I think if you were doin some serious touring(as in all over the country with extended stays in different areas), then it might be different, and some of the benefits would pay off...

Trust me the HOG roadside assistance is not specialized roadside assistance for motorcycles. The one and only time I used the HOG service the tow company had no special ability, demonstrated by the fact they dropped the bike on the rollback deck while in transit to the dealership, add to that the basic service only pays up to $100 it won't get you far. The last time I was towed it was AAA service and they found a company that was motorcycle ready and they covered 100% of what would have been a $400+ call. Don't let roadside assistance make the HOG decision for you.

Looks like my mind is made up. With the added comfort of knowing AAA will tow it via a motorcycle-capable carrier there is no real reason to renew as I am not a user of any of their offerings. (The HOG sticker is on my kid's BMX bike, he thought it was cool).
