Best thing to have on the open road away from home. A HOG membership card and a cell phone.

Love my life membership. I have had to use the tow service and it was a good experience

I can get 10 % just by asking for it.

Never renewed! Can't see the justification at all. I Hog nothing!

Don't think a whole lot of it. The roadside assistance can be bought on your insurance. Unfortunately, the rallies all required HOG membership now. Our dealer doesn't do the 10 %. But, i am a HOG member. Mags are pretty nice (pictures) but it's an advertising gimmit.

Are you sure about AAA??? I check with AAA in Kentucky and unless you have a AAARV package, regular AAA doesn't tow motorcycles, one reason I dropped AAA.

I'm a life member of HOG, got it when yearly dues were 35.00 a yrand after five years with no break in membership, you could buy a life membership for 150.00 I jump on that figuring that it had to go up in price....

I'm also a member of AMA and they also offer towing.....insurance also has towing on my policy....

Hope between the three I'm covered.

What I think is funny about the whole HOG membership thing is the letter they send you telling you that you have lapsed as a member. And that if you send them your money NOW they will welcome you back with open arms and no questions asked!!! Heres the thing I didnt feel shunned or like an outcast when my membership expired...Was I supposed too??? Whatever I don't think that sending them more money will get me the help I am going to need if I become stranded. Either way if I break down my wife will come and get me and give me crap for having the bike regardless of who tow's it. Good luck with your decision I have made up my mind.

I had the same question while back and did a thread on it. I don't think the benefits are worth the price after looking at it. AAA towing is very expensive you do have to get the RV package, and then I think there is a limit on how many times you can use it per year

Like you, roadside assistance is the only service that interests me.

Check out this company:
"Motorcycle Towing Service", they specialize in roadside service for motorcycles.

Go to http://www.mts-towing.com/default.asp and check out the Member Benefits tab.

Granted, the cost is higher than a HOG membership, but for me it has been more than worth it.
