Circuit boards cracking is pretty common on HK radios.

The HK radio on my 08 started acting up. I was sure it was due to moisture. I sent it to Iron Cross for repair and they make it more water resistant. Had no further issues with and it was working fine when I sold the bike. Also had them add rca audio out jacks for an amp while they had it. Did a great job.

FYI, I just updated my 08 Street Glide radio in preparation for sale in case anyone is interested. Probably list it on Saturday. Works great

No problems on my 08 SG, except that the clock loses a few minutes a month. Even still, I just had satellite radio installed - WELL worth the investment, IMO.

Current owner say it works fine.

On my 2012 FLTRX SE CVO, the radio was putting out overlay screens and display screens that were not playing, ie , radio on and Ipod screen displayed. Dealer finally changed it out to a refurbed on warranty.

Default Yeah, they're not the best.

The Harmon Kardon radios don't have the best reputation in the world. Although, (knock on wood) I haven't had any issues with mine.
I've read many times about the great service provided by Iron Cross Audio and if I did have at issues (he said as he was knocking on wood) they would be my go to repair shop. Since the best you could probably expect from your friendly, neighborhood HD service department would be a software upgrade and guess work as to what the problem really is.
Good luck with your issue. I hope you don't get too much of a run around.

My RoadGlide is on it's 4th radio, all replaced under warranty. Now that my warranty is up it's still working so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, about 74,000 miles on the bike.
