Default Wheel bearing question...

I have my 04 broke down to put the 3rd rear tire on and was wondering when to replace or what to do about the wheel bearings. Not sure on this part since my owners manual doesn't say a thing about it. Bike has 24,500 miles on it.

They are a sealed wheel bearing. Should be good for 100,000 miles. Put a new tire on and ride.

Thanks, I did a search and found out they were sealed since 00, but didn't know if they should be replaced at certain intervals.

Just hate to have problems on the road.

The 2001 & below to 1999 are sealed but 3/4" axle, 2002 to 2007 are 1" & the new ones are 25mm.

Take the bearing to a local industrial bearing distributor and see if they can match it. If it's metric, that's better since most bearings are metric. The 25mm bore is one of the most common sizes used in electric motors, gearboxes, etc. Without seeing the bearing I would guess it's either a 6205-2RS or 6305-2RS...both are 25 mm bore but the latter is heavier cross section meaning it has higher capacity. Obviously, you have to put the size back in there that came out but I would hope that HD put in the heavier size. You can't say that they are good for 100,000 miles...damage can occur when they are improperly removed, installed, contaminated, etc.
