Bolts on rear turn signal bar
Hello,
I have a 2005 Road King Classic with the large rear turn signal bar, today I came home and I noticed the bar hanging crooked, seems one of the bolts is gone, not too big of a problem as I can probably just put a new bolt in it to hold the bar correctly again.
But I was wondering which bolt to use, I found this HD reference in another thread: PN=3987, 5/16-18, 3/4" grade 5 ... but that was listed on a question about the bar on a 05 Soft tail Deluxe ... is the bar for the Road King 05 the same, or is the bolt the same?
And should there be a washer used too? I think so, but want to be sure, and don't want to drive an hour to my nearest dealer for what seems to be a stupid thing to pay labor for.
Thank you for any help

Bolt head 3 is inside the rear fender on the tire side, and bar bolts up to the rear fender.
Blue 242 loctite (on both the new bolt, and the old one that you have have to loosen it to get the bar to correctly align), and may need to pull the rear tire to install and tighten the bolts back up in same cases as well.
And just a note, if you need to get 242 loctite, get a bigger bottle, since any bolt that does not use Red 272 loctite, will need to use 242 blue loctite so bike vibration does not shake it loose.

Thank you for the information, seems to be a totally different bolt than I thought.
Looks like a very small (lengthwise) bolt too, I already have a bottle of blue Loctite 242 in my toolkit, I knew it would come in handy after buying the Road King, used it on the driver's backrest fittings and on the Willie G horn cover so far.
Let's see if my dealer can supply me the two bolts and how much it is going to set me back, sometimes I think Harley parts and accessories are made from solid gold ... lol.

I had to order the tools in 'inches' from Amazon to get in my country, only metric spanners and hex keys over here in the shops.

First, many thanks for all the ideas, I'm still new to this beauty, so I'm learning as I go.
I took a drive to my dealer where I bought the Road King back in June, just wanted to pick up the bolts if they had any ... turned out differently, they pulled it into the workshop and fixed it for me, free of charge, in about 30 minutes, now that seems to be a good dealer so far, I can't complain.
I talked to the tech after he pulled the King back outside, turned out he really likes it, drives like a charm according to him, and he prefers the classic, chrome look over the more recent, all-black Road King ... always nice to hear.
