Never tried that before, or knew it. it would be PIA on some years to that. Also to do it, you might not have it grounded to get at the connector, depending on year.

Rick, just a reminder that the positive wire out of the voltage regulator, goes to the main breaker, then out of the main breaker to starter solenoid and battery cable on most later HD's.
So when testing for voltage, test both sides of the main breaker to make sure that is not blade over heat open/will not reset,orwhen you may have the voltage drop/no voltage increase at battery.
If push comes to shove, easy enough to pull the main breaker apart by un-dimpling the case, and check the bar and contact side for corrosion, that could be causing the problem if blade is not heat kicked open. The HD ones do not have the back strap piece, but push comes to shove auto parts do carry the one with back strap, that are easy to remove, to clip into the HD holders. Just double check what side amperage the bike main breaker is, and replace with same amperage breaker.
