installing a radio need help
Can anyone tell me where I can get an Install kit to mount my radio In my eletra glide? I have a Kenwood head unit and a set of pioneer speakers. I did install the radio but it isnt right it works but it is lose and I need a trim piece that fits the dash opening since Harley decided to make it wider than a car opening. So you cant use just any kit since I wasnt sure what to do I just left the plastic box in the fairing and mounted the radio to it but it shakes to much and came lose from itI really do not wanna pay someone if I dont have toI just need advice on mounting it and mounting the face side how do i fill the gap thank you Chris I ride a 96 electra glide standared

RE: installing a radio need help
I have installed a Kenwood stereo in my Electraglide using the bracket that comes with the stereo. If you look at the mount that the stereo slides into you will see several tabs. What I did was cut the "glove box" in the spots where the tabs are and bend them over. Cheap and easy. Been 4 years mounted that way and no problems.

Check out www.biketronics.com and look at the Retro Radio set -up. It makes it where you can use your handlebar controls to change stations/cd tracks/radio function/and operate the volume control. I have the above unit with a Sony CDX50M , installed it myself and works fine, also added Hogtunes speakers. The whole set-up cost about half of what a factory HD radio costs. Biketronics and Pez at Hogtunes are good people with a good product and would recommend them.

RE: installing a radio need help
If you want a faceplate, check the auto audio shops; they're cheap. Had my radio in my '04 FLHTPI mounted as described by JLHOG above and it works.
Subsequently purchased the biketronics mounting kit, $49.95, which eliminates the plastic box in the inner fairing, and interface unit for handlebar controls of the headunit, $149.95--works great.
