Default hd detachable passenger backrest to far foward?

My hd detachable backrest seems to be to far foward with my mustang 2 piece touring seat. I seem to be losing about 2 inches of seat and when I add my nelson rigg pack my wife feels cramped is there any backrest assmbly that is futher back?or any thoughts.

I do know my Mustang seat with its' back rest still push me more forward more than my stock. Using washers on the backrest help, but I ended up having the stock seat re-cushioned and set back an inch and I am happier about it.

Have you tried to adjust your HD Backrest (the base mount under the seat attached to the rear fender)... I had to shim mine back & up a bit using my Sundowner seat... But that's only going to take more room away from you Pass seating area...

I took your post to mean PASSENGER detachable backrest. If I'm right, I have the same problem and would like a way to move it back about an inch. I think that is as far as you can go before you get into the saddle bag brackets.

If you're talking about the rider backrest then checkout https://www.hdforums.com/m_1989483/m...tm.htm#1989483

Same problem on my EG but I have learned to adjust to it. I bought another seat but it wasn't any help.

Take the black metal strap back boltloose fromthe detachable bracket & move it down alittle & drill a new hole for it in the mounting bracket, it will move the backrest back about an inch & change the angle also, gives quite abit more room.
