Default 07 road glide Idling high RPM and exhaust gets too hot

Hi, I have 2007 road glide stage 1, less than 18.000 km. Couple weeks ago, when I slow down at traffic light, bike had two back fire and stalled. Tried to rev it but engine was dying. Waited couple of min. then started and was normal. Since then, it’s idling high rpm (14-1500). Dealer said that could be leaking intake manifold gaskets. I replaced them, also, replaced the air filter and gasket. Tonight, I started up and let it warm up 6-7 min. It was dark and I noticed exhaust heads got red because of heat. Never seen before. Still idles at 12-1300 rpm. I can tell something is not right. Also, when I stand behind the bike, it smells like burning plastic. I don’t know what causes these symptoms. Can it be O2 sensors? Any idea?

This happened after 5 min warm up

I also would have said intake gaskets but the issue seems way deeper. If this was my ride, rather than guess and throw parts at it, I'd just bring it in. It may be cheaper... and quicker... red hot heads, is that a figure of speech or were they glowing? If glowing, I wouldnt even ride it to have it looked at..

I think you still have a vacuum leak. I would check on top of the intake manifold. There is a vent tube that should have a rubber cap on it. If that cap comes off it creates a huge vacuum leak. That could certainly cause your trouble. I'll try to attach a picture.

I agree w/ the above... those glowing header pipes scream too lean to me.
Intake leak makes sense as a likely root cause.

Like Boomer said. My 2000 RG, for some reason, popped through injection module(MM). Bike idled high and pipes got real hot. Lost rubber cap on module. Installed new one and solved the problem.

07s have an IAC (Idle Air Controller) sensor hat needs frequent cleaning. I do mine at least twice a year. Usually it warns me that its time by going into high idle mode and basically running terrible. Lots of youtube videos on how to do it. Good Luck

So what did they go with, after 2007? And is 2007 the same as previous delphi years?
