Long Line wait times, idle or shut er down?

Thanks for the comments, synthetic is all I run, the shut down and duck walk was probably our best option. As far as jumping ahead in line, I will take a big pass on that as there was no lane"s" to split, one line and it was the US customs and I know for a fact when they see crap like that you are begging to be brought inside. How do I know, I live on the U.S. Canada Border and see lines and am in lines plenty here in the car as its a very busy crossing, easily seeing lines near a mile long. I can pick and choose when I cross here at home. The customs I encountered was at another small crossing several hundred miles away. I had declined getting fans as we are rarely in traffic, live in a small town and don't travel into traffic but as another poster said better to be prepared and not need then need and not be ready. Not sure how fast the temps rise but I would assume even in relatively nice 75 degree weather with no airflow the temps climb pretty fast. Like I said in my original post, the engine light popped on right at the window when I was asked to shut down to talk. I assume it was temp as when i restarted and drove off it was gone and never returned the 350 miles the next couple days.
