Some input for those of you cursing your stock wind screen on the SG. I,m 6,4" and the wind buffeting was terrible on my SG with the stock screen. SO bad at times that I couln't keep classes or goggles on when out on a windy day. I ordered a Fastaire 8" dark smoke from Jim ( great service and product) and I had a completely different ride. But over time I've missedthe look of the stock screen and wanted to put itback on. Before doing so I ordered a set of the HDfairing wind deflectors to give them a try. Installing those deflectors almost made as much difference as going from the stock 4" screen to the 8" Fastaire. Back now to the stock screen with the fairing deflectors, don't get me wrong I still have some wind but much more liveable. Never would of thought those deflectors could do so much.
Maybe not, but I have a feeling your renewed attraction to the 4"er, Freedom Wings or not, won't last That 4" shield just doesn't work as much as I wish it did. I've got the wings and lower fairings. On very calm days, like 0mph wind, I can zip down the highway at 80 but kick in a normal 10mph day and not much fun for me. The wind is more harsh with that thing than a windshield-less Roadking IMO. I've found the best approach is to split the difference and do a 6-8" windshield, in any increments, keeps me happy. Right now it's the 7" dark smoked standad shape Cee Bailey, although I like 6" one alot too.

See my sig pic. 8" Clearview, smoked, and HD fairing lowers. Had the same set-up on my SG (except I had Freedom Wing lowers) and loved it.

I have the 8" w/ recurve in dark gray on my bike. I may try a 6.5" shortly.
Your bike with the 8" recurve looks great from that angle. I've got an 8" Clearview recurve too and now I'm thinking of putting it on for a while. The fact that the pewter silver with the black forks etc is the best looking SG ever doesn't hurt

If it's of any help, I have a 6.5 dark grey recurve from Clearview on my Street Glide. I'm 6' 1", and it does great for me. It lets just enough air over that I get a slight breeze as I ride, but I don't get the head buffeting anymore. It also looks terrific and doesn't alter the aggressive look of the Street Glide to me.

Bought the dark grey for my FLHTC but wish I had gotten the smoke. It's a little too dark for my liking especially at night.

I'm 6'-0 and I went from my 12" stock shield on my Eglide Classic down to an 8" light smoke (no recurve)and I love it. Very light buffeting, if any. No problems either with riding at night. I look just over the shield now.

I had the same problem for the first few rides on my 07 SG. Kuryakan makes a 6" and 8" dark smoke screen I picked up both. Used the 6" for awhile and then moved to the 8" huge difference. I'm 5'10" and ride comfortably with the 8" but I think it takes away from the SG look. Has anyone used the wind deflectors on a SG yet? I've been riding with the 4" again and putting up with the wind like to try the deflectors..any pictures of them on?
