Oil weight

Aircraft piston engine oil is not a good lube for a Harley Davidson engine.
Automotive oil 20w50 any brand is far superior.
Multi grade automotive oil was available before most on this forum were born.

That`s right, it is made for air cooled aircraft engines, which have much different requirements than a ground air cooled motorcycle engine.

Throwing a BS flag here...

As a kid I for some reason found motor oil interesting ( still do ) Dad would buy quarts at the gas station sold in cans located between the pumps and I remember straight 30W and 30 HD, Later I remember 10w 40 and in my 77 280Z I used 20w-50 as thicker oil must be better I thought and perhaps it said Racing on the can? At 8 years old I had my own oil can punch or opener, I kinda miss old oil cans....
Early in life ( late 60's early 70's ) Dad would say you need to use a good Pennsylvania grade motor oil. Between dad and my neighbor Mr. Johnson , I learned very early the importance of oil changes and was shown by them how to do it! Mr Johnson never had kids and I think a kid ( me) wanting to watch him change the oil and sharpen the blade in his riding mower kinda made his day! I would knock on his door and say you changing oil today?
At 8-10 years old I was the king of cutting neighborhood grass & my Briggs & Stratton ( later a Tecumseh ) Lawn mowers were purchased used by me and were my pride and joy! The first of many things I would own with a gas engine and now uncle Sam wants me to go electric! I would wash my lawn mower ( even wax the mower deck ) and had pride in it and it always had clean fresh oil. I was taught exactly what, when and how to maintain them and keep them working proper buy wonderful men in my life and I just don't understand how single moms do it now?
To this day I use straight 30w in my lawn mowers, nothing wrong with 30W as thats what Mr. Johnson used!
Now almost 50 years later I get the same feeling maintaining my old EVO and think of Dad and Mr Johnson every time I drain that oil.
