RE: intercom
I tried Chatterbox and did not have a good experience with the performance.
I was on the phone with then 3 times and finally rode the bike to Cerritos and had their tech geeks work on it. It works great while sitting still, but on the road the noise opens the VOX and you cannot communicate with your passenger. I finally returned it and got my money back.
I have heard good things about Autocom. Right now they are offering 50% off on all their old units - they are introducing new technology this fall.

RE: intercom
Prior to getting my Ultra (built in intercom), I used a Collett Communicators, Platinum 900.
It was amazing, and I only stopped using it because the Ultra's built in is so much easier to use.
They make them in Canada, primarily for Snowmobiles, so they work well with lots of exterior noise. The independent reviews rate it much better than the Chatterbox. Customer service was awesome. Price was good: Two units and all the cabling I needed for $209.90.
It can be used wired to the passenger, or wirelessly to other rider's if they have a similar unit set up on the same channel.
Had I not purchased an Ultra, I'd still be using them. They rock!
