good thing they make both then, huh?
It is!
This difference is what separates the bat and shark riders that I ride with. I feel like the dash is a mile away, and I am stretching to reach or read anything, and my buddies feel like they have their knees in their throats when they tide mine LOL

It's all good, we bust each other's ***** about it as we ride across the west.

I have one of each and every time I take my 13' Ultra Glide out I really notice how heavy the front end feels. If you take a new 24 Road Glide for a ride you will find that the dash is not nearly as far away as it used to be, and actually feels quite close. I love my 24 Road Glide!!

I have noticed if youre sawing the bars back and forth theres more inertia to overcome with the batwing, but thats really the only difference i can tell. No one really whips the bars back and forth for it to really make much difference, but ill give you that, it is there.

the dash on the 24 is irrelevent to me, i wouldnt be caught on either of the new glides. If i have to be on an ugly bike im going for the best bike. I see no reason to do hammered dog sh+t looks on only a decent bike.

To be truthful, Harley lost me on their styling years ago. Batwing or shark nose, anything after about 2012 or 2013, just looks too metric to me. I think 2014 was the year they changed the tour pack. I don't care for the new style.

IMO 2014 was one of the few times in 100 years that harley did anything for the customers. The bags they have sold before that were an insult. What took so long to come up with a better latch?

its the same frame, so why would the knees be in different place? I do feel the new frame is a little tighter in the knees.

What Harley isn't "blown around a bit" by a tractor trailer? My Escalade can feel it at high speeds, it's a massive wind blast that any bike will have to deal with. What do I know I've only been riding for 50 years.

It's time for your nap.

I was not talking to you. Why? Because you are the only one here that would take that post literally.

In all fairness someone posted on here posted that the new bikes are way easier to get off the center stand. Sarcasm is tough in writing.

Default First Street Glide

Speaking of Batwing fairings. Does everyone remember the first SG’s came with a Tour Pack and a pad for passenger to lean on?

I think the first year was 1984.

Yes I remember those. I also bought an Ultra Classic in 1993 which was then top of the line for HD bikes. Batwing too.

But after just two years a lot of us were removing the Tour Pack and CB radio. There was only four big screws holding down the Tour Pack.

We then made bolt on back rests, same 4 big screws when we were taking passengers, I still have that backrest hanging in my garage.

These became very popular and everyone wanted one.

HDMC finally made a Street Glide without a Tour Pack my old memory says 1999-2000.

The Batwing fairing has and is a great fairing. I think they are great.

I also think my new 2024 Road Glide fairing is great too.

Dont think I could stand not having one of them to ride!!

The HP and Torque sure has come a long ways.
Hope my memory is correct!!
Ride safe,
Mike
