Stopped and looked at new Harleys yesterday

I guess that's the point I was poorly trying to make. You should be able to get what you want the way you want it from the factory. Ok maybe not everything. But at least bars, stage 1 and seat. Choices are nice. Wallet to skinny.

My point was if you want to get all the HP out of ANY engine you have to do some work on it and it ain't cheap. I am not really sure if any production HD motor has ever made me say holy...... If you want to stroke out about power ride a CBR or a Busa but they are a different style of bike not a touring bike but even those bikes can be ordered to your liking for braking, clutch bars grips and suspension.

It's a story as old as time. Something new comes out and a certain subset of people go "I don't like the new thing! The company is circling the drain! Why doesn't said company make only what I want? Change is bad!" Same thing as been parroted whenever a new motor, model, or design change comes about. Remember "Hear no Evo, See no Evo, Ride no Evo?" Now people worship them.

Say what you will, my 22 SG is an improvement in power, handling and more over the 09 Ultra that I traded in for it; in turn, the 09 was an improvement over the 06 Ultra and that was an improvement over the 02 Ultra that was my first HD. I can't say that I'm that impressed with the styling of the newest versions but don't hate it. Having just gotten used to being able to use Android Auto I'm not impressed by its elimination (although I understand it isn't Harley's doing) on the 2025s. Now that I've worked out how to link a non-HD headset to the SG infotainment system with full function and settled just about everything else as like it, I doubt I'll be buying another new bike anyway unless something untoward happens to the SG. That's more due to age than any dislike for the newest models, though.
Darn, what were we talking about? Did somebody mention ice cream? Dang boomers...

Cooler heads prevail
I started my 2024 touring. A friend sitting next to me asked"aren't you gonna start your bike". A real wiseguy but he made a point. Out of the box, it was way too quiet. So, I did a stage 1 with custom slip ons. Now you can hear my bike from the next town over. My point is, if you see a bike you like, buy it and improve it to your liking. There's no way any brand will make what everyone wants. Some like quiet pipes so they can hear the pointer sisters singing slow hand. I don't, but who cares.
