Default Cheap guy wheel questions

On my 07 SG, I bought it with the laced wheel option, they look fine but I really want a chrome tubeless now.

2 questions

Assuming a straight clean wheel, similar to maybe a 9 spoke HD wheel, but chrome, what does anyone recommend? I think I can get MOCO cast wagon wheel style in chrome for about 1000 dollars a pair. Anything comparable that would be a similar price or cheaper?

The #1 goal is a clean chrome tubeless wheel

Second, what should I ask for my 07 laced wheels, perfect shape 1000 miles on them?

OK I lied, 3rd question, should I reuse the tires on the new rims, or think its smart to sell the whole laced wheel/tire combo and buy something different?

Thanks, and please, tease me as you like, but think low budget chrome with high budget taste

If you are decent with a wrench, buy a good set of nine spoke E-Glide wheels off of e-bay and have them chromed. Use the rest of your existing hardware and you should be good to go.

Also your laced wheels have tubes, and you will need tubeless tires for the cast wheels which are safer anyway!!

Don't know where you are, but a reasonably low cost way to get chrome wheels is to go to a swapmeet at one of the major events. Someone will have some, & if it's late in the event they'll usually bargain. However you find your wheels, the tube type you have on the laced wheels won't work on tubeless. Sell 'em with the wheels.

You can usually find a pair of new bike take off wheels for under $300 for pair for the cast 9 spokes on e-bay.

same tires, just one application uses a tube, the other doesn't.

Check out chromeprosplating.com in Corpus. This guy mainly specializes in wheels and has them Ship and Wait or Exchange. Some are outright. He just had Ultra 9 spokes selling outright real reasonable due to overstock. If you had some to send, $550 a pair. or $645 exchangeand I hear they do excellent work.

I concur. I bought my Weld wheels and NEW Metzler tires from shooter64 (Bart) and had them mounted balanced and delivered to my door for about what you are looking to pay. I then sold my profile laced wheels and original tires (Lops) with 6000 miles on them on eBay for 475.
Good Luck and post pics!!!
