I have the Arai Corsair X. Best helmets I’ve ever owned. I won’t even consider another brand. The quality and fit is amazing. You definitely get what you pay for.

The Helmet I've been using for 15 + years....same brand/style, not the same helmet.

Went to the dealer to check out helmets last weekend. Saw a Harley brand 3/4 helmet that I liked and tried it on. It felt good then I saw the price, $260.
Went to a Metric dealer, Saw an HJC 3/4 i30 Helmet that was "identical" in every way for $164.The i30 also has an option for a Blue tooth com.
I personally thought that it was the best 3/4 helmet that I had ever tried on.
HJC 3/4 Helmet
I will eventually get the HJC i30 but went for a 1/2 helmet for now.

I like HJC helmets. I wear ear plugs so noise isn’t a major point of concern when I shop for helmets. My 7 year old HJC IS-MAX2 saved me when I slammed my head on the ground at 60 mph. I got the new model and the fit and finish are even better.

My Cardo PackTalk Edge sticky mount fits perfectly on the side of the helmet where the HJC Sena unit is supposed to mount.

I run a Voss 580 Modular. Very comfy helmet with good ventilation, Visor is super simple to change (I keep a clear one in the saddle bags if I'm travelling in case we end up riding past dark) and comes with a pinlock antifog insert. I have no issues slipping on a pair of riding glasses if I don't want to swap visors and don't get pressure points in the temple areas like some of my previous helmets.

FWIW...

I wear an Outlaw, DOT approved, half-helmet 95% of the time, after many years of wearing no helmet.... When I bought my Outlaw helmet, they had thin straps. Their current thick-strapped helmets don't appeal to me... There are currently other "beanie" style half helmets, with the thinner straps, that are DOT approved.

This is going to sound counterintuitive, but for multi-day trips through the surrounding SoCal deserts, I wear a modular full face helmet. I am currently using an HJC IS-MAX II. I found a full face design, with good venting, actually feels better in sunny 95°-110°+ weather than the half helmet. The full helmet keeps the sun from "cooking" your face, ears, and generally any skin exposed to the sun. The modular feature allows for me to open it up in slow traffic or stops. It also helps when trying to communicate to fellow riders when moving slowly or stopped.

I am glad you saw the light. I went down bad 30 some years ago. It happend to be late fall & fairly cold so by the grace of God I was in boots, jeans, leather jacket, gloves & helmet. After the 100ft slide all of these items except the boots were destroyed. I lost a fair bit of skin (and some meat) on my right hand (asphalt ate through my leather riding gloves in a cpl secs) & legs. To this day my cod sack draws up when I see a video of someone going down wearing no gear. I know what I felt like afterwords kitted up & can only imagine.

Back to the OP, I wear 2 diff helmets. A 3/4 for summer & full face in the fall.

The LS2 is a better helmet, fvery comnfortable & great airflow but I do like the open face of the Harley one.
