I got sloppy with my jiffy stand this weekend. Be attentive gents.

My turn.
Parked mine on the gas pump last week...
And I do mean, ON the gas pump. Front forks cocked all the way to the left when it went down. Just failed to deploy the kickstand.
I’m 6’3 225”, but I’m also 68, and it was absolutely all I could do because of where it was and how it was situated to get it back up on the stand. Took me four tries.
I thought I was going to have a heart attack it was so hot that day. Instead I determined I just got a hernia, which was just repaired two summers ago. Went to the surgeon on Monday. No hernia. Just strained the shiite out of my groin, and *****.

Man, I was in WY at a slant pull out when mine went over... in the middle of know where.
I waited for the Harley show girls to show up and pick it up but.. never saw them.
Adrenaline got it up pretty well by walking it back but, I still looked around if anyone saw me..

Many, many years ago... when attitudes were quite different, and I was much less wise....
I have seen two different friends forget to put their feet down at a red light...
I pulled into a gas station, and walked away from my bike before putting the jiffy stand down...
Luckily, those types of incidents are way behind me...

Man, I hate that... My 97 Heritage that I have owned 27 years and never dropped it... well.... until a few months ago. I did the same thing with my jiffy stand and down she goes but for the first time ever I'm thankful I'm a Pack Rat as somehow a old school milk crate was in the garage and wedged itself perfect under my left floorboard and save my bike from going all the way over...
I had a friend years ago that I'm convinced his brain did not talk to his feet as I remember one Sunday afternoon ride he and his bike would tip over at least 7-8 times at almost every stop light... He didn't ride very long.
Its going to happen, just a matter of when and how often and how bad but it took me 27 years....

I’m guilty. I was out bar hopping one night on my (maybe) one month old 2005 Softail Standard, parked the bike, got off and down went the bike. I forgot to put the kickstand down. Needless to say, I was pissed. With the adrenaline flowing, I didn’t need any help getting it up.

As for OP, the only time I clean rims/wheels on my bagger is when they're off for a tire change.

Did a similar thing last year when my RKS was brand new. Walked it forward in the garage without realizing that I'd snagged a rubber mat, and down she goes.
The experience taught me to trust the engine & saddlebag guards, and not injure myself trying to stop the unstoppable. Just let 'er down, then compose yourself for the lift back up.

years ago I got in the habit of pushing that jiffy forward to double check,EVERY DAMN time I lean the bike. Even if I just lift it for a few seconds, my boot automatically taps the jiffy stand. I adapted to that after having a loose 'stand, which always wanted to swing back a little- and now it's just force of habit.
