2012 SG Tire Options
Hey guys. I have a 2012 Street Glide that I need to put new rubber on. I did some searches but anything older than a year is kinda useless so I though I'd get opinions on the new tire options. OEM Dunlops have worn amazing but not all that great in rain. Any other options that are good all around? Not looking for cheap (no shinkos). Looking for best. Tires are stock sizes.....
Front : 130/70hb-18
Rear: 180/65hb-16
Thinking about:
Dunlop Americans
Metzler ME888
Michelin Commander II

Been running commander II for a few sets now since I can still find them, but will not go to the commander III's.
DA's are another good sticky tires as well.
The Metzler ME888 have a harder center patch rubber to allow the tires to last longer like the D402 tires, but your giving up tire grip for longer tire life.
So really, are you looking for a sticky tires that you can trust to hold the tarmac well, or are you looking for a set of tires that are going to last longer, before they need to be replaced.
With the commader II's, I get around 15K out of the back tire, but about twice that out of the front. So kind of a 2 rears. one front to get me to the 30K mark in 6 years.
Also to note, tires needs to be changed about the 6 year mark, since the rubber gets hard, and tire will start to go out of round from age alone (tire cords streaching). So unless you are going to put miles on the bike to wear out even a Commander II or DA before the 6 year mark, would not worry about the sticker tires wearing out on you, since the will age out long before you have worn the tread off them.

Why is anything older than a year kind of useless? All the products you are interested in are older than a year.
