You still didn't answer the question. Why is any information on these tires that is two or three years old invalid? The tire models you have an interest in have been out for years.

Just this week I installed a new front tire (ME888) on a friends 2016 Ultra (was running with the ME888). He also claimed his front tire wore out before the rear.

I found the oem Dunlops far from "not all that great", and in far more than merely the rain. I'm no corner carver, but I really don't like the oem Dunlops.
I've run Commander II's several times, and have been well pleased with them in virtually all conditions. They are not great in wet grass or mud, but almost no street tire is good there.
I am very inclined to run them again, but finding them is starting to get a little more difficult.
I'm considering the Commander III cruisers, but not so much the touring version. Several reviews about the touring version in the rain concern me, as does my looking at the tread pattern. My size is not one that has/had a problem with vibration.
The American Elite has such glowing reviews that I'll be considering that tire too at the next tire change.
I'm also lookin at the Metzler Cruisetech tires.
This is all based on staying with the street type tire, and a motorcycle tire. Outside that box and things get...diverse.
