I can’t comment on yours but mine doesn’t leak coolant.

 

It could leak oil or gas if one of those clamps was loose. So I guess I don't see a big difference.

 

What is the difference in the pumps. How do I tell what style/type I have? Also I need to buy some coolant so is regular automotive Prestone coolant ok?

 

Old style is black, new style is raw aluminum. A lot of people (myself included) use Peak Global Lifetime antifreeze.

I'm in Canada so the brand of coolant isn't available here.

 

It's the " old style" black pump. The hose connections don't seem to be damp or showing any signs of leaking however the bottom seems damp.

 

Take that off and install the new style pump and never worry about it again. That's the early pump that had alt of problems. Not to bad of an install either.
Try and get the selling dealer to take on the cost if you can or at least help out some. They knew that was leaking when they sold it if you only rode it 40 miles.

 

To be clear I've had the bike for a few days now but I've only put around 300 kms on it since I've had it. The 40 kms was yesterday to get gas. Either way I have to call them in the morning.

 

They should be willing to help some. Either way, it's about a $400 pump kit that comes with everything you need and takes about an hour to do on the ground if you take your sweeeeet time. The hardest part of the install is taking the lower fairing pods off as there are some screws that go into brass threaded inserts in the plastic and HD thought loctite would be the way to go. A soldering iron held on the head of those screws apparently helps, although I just took my time applying torque by hand and they came loose just fine.

 

Well I called the place this morning as soon as they opened and explained my situation and that I'm an hour and a half away from them. They are aware of the issues pertaining to the 2014- 2016 water pumps. At first they wanted me to get the bike to them but I explained I didn't have any means to get back home should the repair take some time. The bike came with a 14 day or 500km warranty which ever came first. Well the very first 120kms was just to get the bike home originally and if I rode it there today that would be 240kms gone from the warranty right off the hop. He told me that if this happened if it was slightly over the 500kms they would still honor the 500km warranty ( but then I would have see if they held true to their word). At any rate he called me back to say they would send someone to pick up the bike which I think was pretty good of them. Just waiting on the pickup now. Will keep this thread updated once they come to a conclusion on any repairs etc.
