I wouldn't worry about the used lifters any more than I would the used cam. If the cam looks good then I'd bet the lifters are just fine. Roller lifters aren't the same as the old school flat tappet lifters that "marry" to the lobe. Its no different than if you were to have to work on your bike and take out the cam and or lifters and set them aside and then put them back in later....thats a used cam too at that point. If the lifters are name brand and were run with that cam before than I'd throw them in and roll. But if it makes you feel better to buy new ones then by all means spend away to ease your mind. I think you'd be fine with the ones that come with the cam though.

I've got about 4-6 sets of lifters I'll be happy to sell you.. Outside they all look good.. Heck, got a set off 99c with only 2000 miles on them..

The roller axles/bearings are not visible, and the history of the lifters is from a guy selling the parts, might just as well look for used lifters at a swap meet...
OP: Buy new lifters.

Getting a shop near me to install new Fueling lifters and HD Tapered adjustable rods. He said he likes to install new cam bearings while he's at it. I had totally forgot about this particular shop and he comes highly recommended. He does have lots of experience and has been building race bikes for years. He's also a friend of a friend.Only problem is it won't go in until the 17th because he's booked solid. Fingers crossed till then. leaving in an hour to go pick up the bike. Wish me luck guys!!
