Eliminating "bag crash bars" on a RK Classic?

RE: Eliminating "bag crash bars" on a RK Classic?
I go back and forth on this issue of whether to keep the guards or remove them at least a few times each year. For right now, I am running without them - my next door neighbor called them "training wheels", and I ripped them off there that very day. I'll let you know when I drop the bike at a stop sign.... bound to happen!

I had planned on powder coating some of my chrome parts on my 01 RK. However, the shop refused to do it. Apparently, they have to sand blast the old chrome to pre and the HD metal is to thin. They would not guarantee that the metal would not be perforated. They recommended only a shop that used glass beads, which added several hundred dollars to the whole cost. Needless to say the parts are still chrome. So be careful if you do decide to PC the parts.

My 24 year old son likes the looks of my RKC without the bags. If I ride w/o bags, is it still a bagger?

Don't eliminate the safety from your chrome crashbars just to change thelooks, powder coat them! I can powder coat them black to make them virtually dissapear giving you the look you're after while still protecting those expensive parts. Powder coating comes in any color and gloss level you want as well as various textures, not just smooth. Check out my web site at http://www.finaltouchpowdercoating.com for more info as well as a LOT of pictures. By the way, thanks for the props jnetmac!
