RE: Eliminating "bag crash bars" on a RK Classic?
Laid my RK down when my pant leg got stuck on my heel shifter.
Not a single scratch on anything...yes, I got lucky.
However, my advice === keep the bag guards and get rid of the heel shifter (if you still have the heel shifter, that is).
It's your bike, but there's no gaurantee you'll never lay it down and I can tell you from experience: those bars will save you damage, headaches, and oh yeah...MONEY.

Yeah that was my thought and may be what I go with as I plan to coat other items too.
Anyone tried to PC the inner fairing? I dont know much about PC and wonder if it would be easy to have the inner fairing painted same as the outside?

RE: Eliminating "bag crash bars" on a RK Classic?
I had planned on powder coating some of my chrome parts on my 01 RK. However, the shop refused to do it. Apparently, they have to sand blast the old chrome to pre and the HD metal is to thin. They would not guarantee that the metal would not be perforated. They recommended only a shop that used glass beads, which added several hundred dollars to the whole cost. Needless to say the parts are still chrome. So be careful if you do decide to PC the parts.
