RE: 07 Road King Classic, how far after low gas light?
I wouldn't trust it. Use your trip meter. Sometimes mine will come on and I'll have nearly a gallon left. Other times less than a half gallon.I use the trip meter andfeel safe up to a180 miles unless I've been pushing it pretty hard. Coming across SD with my wife on with me the light would come on around 160 miles. We were running 80 with a pretty good load on. But again under normal riding I would say look for gas at the 180 or so mile mark.
RE: 07 Road King Classic, how far after low gas light?
Best advice is to know how close the next fuel stop is. If you're out west in, say, S Dakota, gas stops can be very far apart. In those types of places, you never want to see your lo fuel light - get fuel every 100 miles or so. Unless you're very sure how close you are to a fuel stop, never rely on that light that gives fairly useless information - unless you've calibrated it by actually running out of fuel (not a bad idea). The trip meter is still the most reliable gauge and the one most of us use.
