I ran mine dry... literally drifted to the pump. Took 5.3 gallons to fill. Fortunately, the EFI allowed it to fire back up as normal.

but how far down will it pull?

I just go between 180 - 200 miles (Hwy) and fill up... Buy then it's time for a cool one anyway!

Dan
My 06 RK when bone stock, and no passenger, and perfect cruising conditions,
bike would get 50 mpg. In my case this wasn't a good thing, bike was way to lean and
ran damn hot.Bike runs better now, with stage one and fuel milage in low 40s.

I have had the light @ anywhere from 136 to 176 miles. As in previous post if using 6th gear alot on level ground just cruising I will get 36-38 MPG. If I use 5 th on and off for power and no chance to settle in 6th, 32 MPG. Engine is stock except for a/c, exhaust and powercommander.

Forgot, @ the lite I will usually stop at the 1st station to refuel. It usually takes 4.76 gals. I was told by the dealer that he is supposed to tell his customers they have 20 miles reserve @ the light. He said I tell them 15. Hope this helps someone.

Supposedly, the fuel light on my bike is supposed to come on when there is 1/2 a gallon remaining, or about 18-20 miles. Like alot of folks, I really don't pay attention to the fuel gauge and light.

I reset the trip meter at every fill up. At 160 miles, I start looking for gas. No sense in finding out if like coffee, my tank is "Good to the Last Drop"

How far can one go after the low gas light comes on?
Thanks Rick
With light just coming on for me consistently takes about 4.3 gallons to fill it back up to the gas cap neck.

Assuming the tank is no more than 5 gallons... you can probably safely count on 30 miles. More than that and I would be getting worried.

Gone down to it taking 4.7 gallons to fill back up, and that was probably 25 miles after light came on.

I've started checking mine lately and usually put just a little over four gallons in a few miles after it comes on. Still don't trust it. Think I'll start using the trip odo.

About .5 gal. left after the light comes on. I use the trip odo.... usually start looking for gas around 170-180.

Just got mine last week with 14K on it. 2007 HD RK rental Ran a couple of tanks and averaged only 29MPG. Stayed below 80 and rode mostly HWY, never took 6th before 70mph. Took my RK to the shop today and left it with them. Has Screaming Es pipes, stage 1 kit (race tuned) Hopefully they can work some magic and find some more hwy per tank. Nonetheless ... still lovin' the Hog.

In my case, answering the first queston ... 15-18 miles after the bingo fuel lite comes on. I can't stray to far from civilizaton.:0(
