07 Road King Classic, how far after low gas light?

My reserve is so low the light is essentially worthless. I've seen it a couple times in 10K (both times it was deliberate, trying to see if it even worked) and put 4.9 gallons in within a mile of seeing it. Heaven forbid I see it when out in the country somewhere.

RE: 07 Road King Classic, how far after low gas light?
I have 7500 miles on my 07 RKC and have been on several trips. I re-set my "A" trip meter every time I gas up and use my "B" trip meter to keep track of milage between oil changes. My reserve light comes on at about 170 miles and have a couple of times gone to 195 miles before pulling into a gas station, with about a third of a gal of gas still in the tank. I have found that regardless of how fast you drive or how much your loaded down...what effected my milage the most was how much I was using 6th gear. Even cruising at 75 or 80 with gear and a passenger, if I was in 6th gear for most of that tank of gas, my milage was still around 41 or 42 MPG. If I was on a lot of seconday roads cruising 60-65 in 5th gear a lot, my milage drop down to about 32-35...with or without gear or a passenger. I have found that I can cruise in 6th gear on secondary roads at about 60-65 mph if the roads are relitivly flat with no traffic, so I can just cruise and I'm not doing a lot of passing or I'm not constantly speeding up and slowing down. if there is a lot of traffic, I just keep it in 5th so I'm not constantly shifting.
I was on a trip with my brother (he has an 07 Heritage) and he got 50 mpg 2-up...has any one done that with a RK?
