Default Taking the dress off the Dresser

... or taking the geezer out of the Glide. Now that my wife has begun to ride her own bike, I've been able to trim down the Ultra a bit. I've replaced some parts, but mostly I've just taken stuff off. The beauty of it is that I still have my stereo, and cruise control, I have the look that I wanted in the first place and I can put all this stuff back on if we want to travel long distances. Couple the weight reduction with the 95" Stage II that I just had dyno tuned, and now I have pretty good performance as well.

These are the added mods I've made to this point:
Quick detach tour pak rack
Saddlebag supports
SE EGlide seat
6" dark windshield
Smoked turn signal lenses
Laydown license plate bracket
Bar and Shield fender tip light lenses

These are the things that I have just taken off and put away on the shelf.
Fairing Lowers
Tour Pak
Front and rear bumpers
Saddlebag guard rails
Passenger grab handle

Sweet!! Nice and clean. Always cool to put your bike on a diet. And, the great thing about the Glide, when you need it, you can put all that stuff right back on! How about pics of the wife's bike?

Enjoy the ride.

Nice bike! This is exactly what I"ve been wanting to do to my "05 ultra classic, I just wasn't sure how it would look in the end. But now I do. Looks GREAT. [sm=bling.gif]

kewl, i thought i was the only one taking off extra weight. most are adding chrome, i'm taking it off. LOL. I love the clean bag installation (did the same). you have to be extra careful that the fasteners are secure, with the bag guards a loose bag was contained but no guards and it's a goner. i like the extra legroom for my girl friend. if you have the rear bumper, I removed the rubber bumper and cut off the lower chrome rail to leave a very thin chrome rail showing.

Steve,

Really looks good. First one I've seen stripped that is the pearl white. I really like it.

Did you get the hidden rear fender/saddlebag brace when you removed the rear bumper?

Regards,

Bill

Looks Great !

I just did a similar build on my 89. Had to make the quick detach bracket for the Tour pac, but everything else is pretty much the same.

Really like the new lines of the bike and the seat looks great compared to the std big puffy seat. I went with a solo and removable pillion to get the whole fender free, either way it makes the 'Glides look great. Enjoy !

I bought an '03 Anniversary Electra Glide Ultra and the first thing I did when I got home was to take the lower fairings off. I realize that its a personal preference, but I kept kicking them when I stretched out and in the summer they were way too hot.
