I was on a trip last May and paid $154 for just syn3 oil and filter change at the HD Dealer in Jackson MS. No primary or transmission, no service, just the engine. I thought that was high. But I guess not. I was pushing 6k miles on that oil.

I usually always do my own.

Thats what they tell you but you don't from my understanding. I used a vacuum hand pump to pull the fluid through the system, filled the reservoir up around 3 times for each caliper to make sure all the old had cycled through. There's plenty of videos on Youtube how to do it. I also like to utilize the ABS system after the flush then flush one more time to make sure all the old its out. Simple and very easy to do.

If I was in a trip with a fresh oil change and mostly hwy miles on full synthetic oil I would go up to 10000 miles on motor oil no problem. I would bring some with me but I wouldn’t worry about it.

no way in Hell I would go twice as long as the manufacturer states...protective oil additives diminished, filthy oil filter and air filter....that 10,000 miles could be chuck full of airborne contaminants and hot temps that would be a problem, to me anyway.. others may be less discriminating

Figure 1/2 hour shop time plus cost of oil, filter and o-ring....

well that seems about right..our dealership sells a qt of SYN3 for ~$16 same for the oil filter..so they are going to charge you 5 qts & filter..6 x $16 = $96 so about $60 for the labor to change the oil..I would think most folks would expect a dealership service department to charge ~ $50 to perform that service ..especially if on the road and it needed it and you got a quick turnaround, would be worth it imo

The 1/2 hour doesn't give them time for the upsell
