RE: Riding In Vicksburg Mississippi...
The Natchez Trace is good, though a bit boring. Head south out of Vicksburg on Fisher Ferry Road, that will take you through the countryside (great ride) to the Natchez Trace, it's about 20ish miles. Head north on the Trace (left) you will cross Hwy 27 and on to Jackson, Ms.Head south(right) on the Trace and you will go through Port Gibson and on to Natchez, it crosses Hwy 61 along the way. Stay under 55mph, 52-53 is about it or they'll bust ya. Another good ride is Old Port Gibson Road, it pretty much parallels the Trace running from Raymond to Grand Gulf which is just north of Port Gibson. You also pick it up by heading out on Fisher Ferry Road. When you come to the 4 way stop (old crossroads general store) about 20ish miles out, take a right to Hwy 61 or a left to Raymond. That 4 way stop crossroads is about a milebeforethe Trace. there's usually a few bikes at the store, stop and have a cold one. Watch for wildlife out there, lots of deer and turkey.

Take hiway 1 north that follows the Mississippi River to Clarksdale and visit the Mississippi Blues Museum. Drop by Ground Zero (Morgan Freeman's bar) to hear some seriously good live blues and drink some good cold beer. Stay at a place called the Shack Up Inn. An excellent weekend run.

Eat some tamales at Solie's. I would tell you to ride to Edwards on old US 80 andride over the wooden bridge that was shown in theOh Brother Where Art Thou movie but I was in Edwards last week and they have taken thebridge down to work on the railroad. Hopefully it will be put back up. Natchez is a must do ride. Straight shot down 61. If you are a Civil War buff, you will be in hog heaven. Vicksburg, Natchez, Edwards, Raymond andPort Gibson all played major parts in Grants march.
