Stock shield was designed for one thing, the look to hook, once they reel you in, you find out its a POS and you need a taller one for comfortable riding. Harleys are kit bikes as designed by harley, alot of thought goes into parts that they know will be pulled off and replaced with other ones.

I have 3 windshields for my Ultra....A stock street glide windshield, 10 in smoked, and the stock shield. I use the street glide windshield when I'm riding solo and the 10 in. with the wife and the tour pak. She doesn't like the wind from the 4in shield.

I agree. I use the stock wind deflector on in-town short rides. Bought a 8" dark smoked windshield off ebay for like $30 and use that when the weather is warm, but on longer solo touring trips... And use the Harley Touring windshield (too much money!!!) on long two-up touring trips for the girly on the back.

My suggestion is to look on ebay for windshields. Harley's are over-priced and not very cool looking. You can get them off ebay blacked out ect, when Harley will only tint them lightly.

I bought two fast aire winshields...6" and 8" dark smoke. looked better than the stock one. The same day I put the 6" on when it came in, I had the bike dynoed...all of a sudden later in the day I realized there was a loud noise coming from the front at higher rpm's....I figured "oh no, must have tweaked something when he dynoed...come to find out, my fast aire winshield was too thin and would not get tight enough to not vibrate! I went straight to my local H-D shop and ordered an 8" dark smoked slipstream windhield through drag specialties for like $55.....and voila!! no more noise Anyone want to buy an 8" fast aire winshield that has never been on a bike?...lol

I use the stocker on my SG. I get some helmet buffeting and some movement of my glasses...but I picked up some WileyX glasses with foam around the lenses. The glasses are rock sready at 80mph with my stock windscreen. As long as the fairing keeps the wind off my body and reduces fatigue, I love the wind in my face. Now, if I were taking a 2000-mile trip I might consider a taller windshield but, for 350-mile day trips, stock is fine.

Scott ... Its the same material & thickness that Ive been using for 3+ yrs with almost zero complaints. Please check your brass insets to see if they have pulled out any, a known issue with later models.

The Slipstreamer is 1/16" thicker (unless they changed laterly) and that will make up for any variations or minor insert pullingbut it also leaves an opening at the ends where water can get into.... just info for you.

But, if youre not happy with my products, theres an easy fix. Please return one or both and get a refund

Pleasesend return items to:

Please include a note with your name, address, date of purchase, method of payment ( PayPal, Money Order orCredit Card) and your emal address in case I need additional information.

Scott, I answered your PM before I read Reno's kind offer. If you would rather return it for a full refund, please don't worry about hurting my feelings! But I'll still take it off your hands if ya want!

P.S. Sorry to the original poster for the hijack!

I had the dealer install a 6" HD shield before taking delivery. After 2 months I felt the need to go with a taller shield because at higher speeds I often had to continuously reposition my glasses and found this to be unsafe and irritating. Purchased an 8-1/2" aftermarket unit on E-Bay for about $25 and it has totally solved the problem.
I do find a bit more resonance with the taller windshield but I'm sure this is not uncommon since there is considerably less wind noise and discomfort. With the radio turned up this is not really an issue. Overall very pleased witht the latest unit at highway speeds. I realize it may not be as "cool" as the stock shorty but prefer the comfort and more relaxed ride with less noise and turbulance. With the shorter shield I often had to think twice before accelerating into the 120+ km/hr zone since the buffeting and vibration of glasses would be severe. Now it is totally calm up in front at speeds of 140+. Overall very pleased with my decision.

I like the heighth of the windshield. I've been riding for several years and never had any windshield so when I pickup my streetglide in march the difference was like nite and day. So there is no complaints from me
